 Bluefish Lures

When I was a mate on charter boats, my friends & I used to call them Salwater Piranha. The fact is they will eat almost anything, but certain days they will eat one lure better than others. Some days trolling is the answer, and some days casting small jigs is the answer. The most important thing about a Bluefish lure is durability (or indestructibility) as the Bluefish's teeth will destroy almost anything. I will list for you our different lures that are best for Bluefish and why they are best.

Vlick on the links to be directed to the pages where you can find specs, colors, and pricing for these lures.

Minnow                                        Anchovie

Rig these up with a short piece of #4 wire and cast them into a school of Bluefish. Some days they prefer the Minnow, other days they prefer the Anchovy. No-matter how many Bluefish chew on these, they will not come apart and their pait jobs will hold up for many, many fish.

     Chrome Caster

Cast these into Schools of Bluefish if the Minnow or Anchovie are not working. Completely indestructible and highly reflective polished chrome body will attract the strikes.

       Snook Rattler                              Finger Mullet

We have trolled these through the schools of Bluefish when they will not eat the casted jigs. We have caught many fish on them trolling while watching others working the same schools (both casting and trolling) come up empty. As a result we have passed any spare Snook Rattlers & Finger Mullet we might have on board to struggling fisherman. These lures will also hold up well against the razor sharp teeth.

     Steel Head

This lure is nearly indestructible and will handle many Bluefish as a result. The polished chrome head and brightly reflective mylar skirts aill attract bites while other lures won't get the Blue's attention. Use as single baits or on an umbrella rig. Guaranteed Bluefish lure!

              Smoker Jr.

This is a fairly expensive bait to use for Bluefish, but when targeting fish when you need a larger bait, these have the same brightly reflective skirts as do the Steel Head, combined with a PVC skirt and they have a head that will create a "smoke" trail that is polished Chrome. This bait will survive many Bluefish attacts and attract the strikes.

Bullnose Bubbler

This bait will work well when trolling for Bluefish but will not be as indestructible as you prefer, but the chrome head and the bright colored skirts will get you the bites. I rigged up a daisy chain of three of these for a friend of mine fishing for Stripers out of Brielle, NJ, and he kept catching jumbo Bluefish on it. This is a great Bluefish lure.
